Building a hands-on, engaging app to introduce students to the world of Product Design.
The PEDI Org™ was created to inspire the next generation of product designers through accessible, interactive education. I led the design of a mobile-first learning experience that combined practical challenges, gamified modules, and real-world design thinking frameworks. The app made it easy for students—especially beginners—to build confidence and creativity while mastering design fundamentals.

In August of 2023, the PEDI Learning Lab Team conducted a series of design sprints to develop an engaging and practical mobile platform for introducing students to the fundamentals of Product Design. The thesis at the time was that design education is often inaccessible, overly theoretical, or not tailored for self-starters. We developed an educational app, gamified learning system, and challenge-based progression model that made design approachable, actionable, and inspiring for new learners.
The Problem:
Aspiring designers, especially students without formal training, often struggle to find resources that are hands-on, fun, and beginner-friendly. Traditional design courses are expensive, passive, or overwhelming.
How Might We:
How might we make design education approachable, interactive, and rewarding for the next generation of product thinkers?
Information Architecture:
After determining core functionality we structured how value will be delivered in a sitemap diagram. This provided a solid foundation to begin prototyping the app.
Learn by Doing, Design by Playing
We built an educational design app that turns lessons into action. Students completed challenges, built real projects, and leveled up through a gamified learning journey rooted in real-world product design practices.
