Mahtco™ set out to solve the growing disconnect between strategy and execution in mid-sized teams adopting agile. We designed a modular project management platform that supported real-time collaboration, flexible workflows, and organization-wide visibility. Deployed across multiple businesses, Mahtco™ helped teams plan, pivot, and deliver with precision—without the bloat of traditional enterprise tools.

In September of 2022, the Mahtco™ Product Innovation Team conducted a series of design sprints to create a flexible project management platform that could be deployed across teams with different structures and cadences. The thesis at the time was that most PM tools were either too rigid or too bloated, making them unfit for small, fast-moving teams needing clarity without clutter. We developed a web-based, modular task management system, team dashboards, and sprint planning tools that adapted to any workflow without losing visibility or velocity.
FRAMING THE PROBLEM
The Problem:
Small and mid-sized teams were juggling multiple tools, creating fragmented workflows and lost accountability. Off-the-shelf agile platforms were either too complex or too generalized to be effective across diverse team needs.
How Might We
How might we design a flexible, lightweight project management tool that supports agile teams across multiple organizations—without overwhelming them?
Information Architecture:
After determining core functionality we structured how value will be delivered in a sitemap diagram. This provided a solid foundation to begin prototyping the app.
